What is a JPM file

JPM files mostly belong to OpenJPEG. Your JPM file may be one of several specialized data types.

JPEG 2000 Image: Some JPM files store image data using the JPEG 2000 format. This format supports both lossless and lossy compression and is used where detailed image quality matters. You can use tools like OpenJPEG to open or convert these files.

Minecraft Java Model: Other JPM files use a JSON structure to hold model data for Minecraft. These files describe geometry and textures for game elements. Programs such as Blockbench or Cubik Studio are built to work with this kind of file.

Label or Metadata Images: A few JPM files are used by label printers or store JPEG images with embedded metadata, managed by software like Adobe Photoshop or JPEGView.

How to open a JPM file

You need a suitable software like OpenJPEG to open a JPM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. • 45% of all JPM files store the data in the JSON file format. JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data−interchange format. It is easy for humans to read and write. It is easy for machines to parse and generate. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. The files are often between 520 bytes and 3 KB in size. The keywords textureSize, "submodels": [, "comment": "Designed, "createdWith": "Cubik, https://cubik.studio, with, Cubik Studio, Beta, Cubik Studio 2, translate and textures are typical for these files. An example of a file name is angel_slime_body.jpm. Files like these are about body, head, chicken, zombie, slime, mooshroom and villager.
