What is an SPE file?

SPE files mostly belong to SPSS Statistics by IBM. SPE filename extension is mainly associated with extension bundles (plugins) used or created by SPSS Statistics data mining and analysis software. These SPE files are used to extend the features and functionality of SPSS Statistics. SPE extension bundles are compressed and stored in ZIP format. Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file.
