All about VSC Files
The VSC file type is primarily associated with VSware.
What is a VSC file?
VSC files are files used by several specialized applications to store structured data. Their primary use is as an inventory data file packaged in a compressed format (ZIP) by VSware software, which helps manage inventory records efficiently.
- Inventory Data: These files often contain inventory records stored as a compressed archive. You might be able to open them by changing the file extension to .zip and using a standard decompression tool.
- XML Vessel Supply: Some VSC files hold vessel supply chain information in XML format. An XML viewer or editor will show the data in this case.
- Database Backup: In certain setups, a VSC file serves as a backup file for a Vasco database.
- Settings File: A few VSC files store settings for systems like Victron Energy's VE.Bus Configuration Tool. For more specifics, see the Victron Energy page.
FilExt.com tip: You should use the application that originally created the VSC file to view and modify its contents. However, if the file uses the ZIP format, renaming the file extension might allow you to view its internal structure with a decompression tool.
How to open VSC files
You need a suitable software like VSware to open a VSC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your VSC file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a VSC file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert VSC files:

VSC file extension format:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. In the following you will find our evaluation of the VSC files:
Files with the VSC extension are quite widely used. This file type predominantly uses a uniform format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 80% of all VSC files use the ZIP algorithm, the VSC file contains a number of compressed files. The number of files included is on average 1 and ranges from 1 to 19. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. The file size is in the range of 2 KB to 8 KB. The files contain the following words: Requisition-. Such files sometimes refer to requisition, delivery, monthly, report, order, purchase, provision and singapore.
- 6% of all VSC files are using the well-known XML file format to store the data. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. A typical file size is 86 KB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as <?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>, <RequisitionDetails>, <TRN_Requisition>, <AgentDetails />, <AgentEmail />, <AgentName />, <DeletedDate /> and <ETD.
The remaining 14% of all VSC files are different files with different signatures, the following 4 formats exist: VEConfig. Files like these are sometimes linked to priloge, bonded or data. If you want to find out what your VSC file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

How to solve problems with VSC files
- Associate the VSC file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest VSC file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available VSware update.
- To make sure that your VSC file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .VSC file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
