What is a PVR file?

PVR files mostly belong to PVRTexTool by Imagination. PVR filename extension is primarily associated with media container files used to store texture formats such as RGB565 and PVRTC. Often called VR texture files, PVR files are used to minimize graphics memory usage and increase framerate on mobile devices and Dreamcast video game console. A PVR texture is used as a container for hosting compressed texture data for graphics chips equipped with PowerVR technology. Such texture files are used in video games such as Sonic Adventure. Wintal PVR-enabled media devices such as the PVR10HD and the 13LED12HD may be used to record and store PAL/NSTC videos in PVR files. The videos are MPEG-2-encoded. How to open PVR files

You need a suitable software like PVRTexTool to open a PVR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
